Today's Tip is all about using your crock-pot to best advantage.
I love my Crock-pot and I use it all winter, in fact, I'd really like a second one, I use it so often. I like having a meal warm and ready when I get home from work at nearly 7pm.
I used to think that crocks could only be used for roasts and stews and the like, but as I have used mine over the years, and collected a few good books on using them, I have found a variety of wonderful recipes I use routinely. The local library, is a great resource for cook books.
This is what I do. I get my crock all set up the night before, with whatever tomorrow's dinner will be, and I put it in the fridge. When I get up, I add whatever liquid is needed, turn it on to low and go to work. Hubby get off two hours ahead of me, so I have him check it when he gets home, give it a stir, add any last minute stuff and then leave it alone until I get home.
When i do kitchen clean-up after dinner, I wash pot and set it up for the next day, if I am crocking another meal.
Easy and simple, just what I like. We tend to enjoy, simple stick-to-your-ribs food, so this works great for us!

I love the crockpot too! I grew up with a crockpot cook of a mom and it just sort of rubbed off on me I guess. I've slacked off during the hot months though, because even the crockpot makes my kitchen hot, due to being small.
Another wonderful resource for recipes is a site called Natalie's Recipes - she has a free newsletter membership you can sign up for, which includes a weekly email with recipes, and members-only areas of her website. http://www.natalies-recipes.com/website/default.aspx
I love my crock pot too, but it cooks too hot! Do you have that problem? I can't leave food cooking in there all day, it burns! Maybe I need to get another one that cooks slower because I'd really love to leave it on all day!
Love my crockpot, too. Since I'm home most days all day, I don't use it as often as I could (or should), but even though I'm home, it's still really handy. Great tip!
Oh, I love mine too!
And I am a wife and mom at home!
But we have one car, so on the days i need it I drive my husband to work, and pick him up! Those are the days I could kiss my crock pot! I either get it ready first thing in the morning, or if it is a Tuesday when we return home from BSF, and it takes care of the rest!
a great crockpot cookbook is "Not your Mom's Crockpot cookbook". It has alot of from ingredients cooking and not just jars and boxes stuffed into the crockpot. Check it out!
