In a pinch, I use my ironing board as a side board...I have even used it as a pic-nic table on the deck, before we had a small table for out there. The board adjusts to any height, so it is great for kids or to sit at in a dining chair.
I find it very handy when I have food to serve buffet style as well. I just drape a table cloth over it and pile things on...it's narrow, but hold a lot.

That is a great and useful tip! Would never have thought of that. I can think of so many things that would come in handy for. Thanks.

What a great idea! I never would have thought of that.
Yours must be more stable than mine. We'd have a mess as all the food went flying!!! My mom's would work, though. It is nice and sturdy!
Great idea- Dual purposing at it's best. As for stabilizing, one could always weigh down the legs/feet with a sack of beans, flour or something, even a grocery bag or pillowcase with heavy things inside. Then hide the stabilizers with the tablecloth. Great idea!
This is a great idea! Another "dual purposing" idea -- when my parents would have parties, they'd always fill up the washing machine with ice and put the drinks in there. That way when the ice melts, it's not a big deal; and it kind of keeps people moving around a bit as they hunt for the drinks :)
